Core i7 (Nehalem) Benched again |
23 Oct 2008 - 16:20 - GMT |
Intel's new CPU architecture out within the next couple of months has just been benchmarked in the East.
Despite bugs with the memory controller such as DDR3 memory over 1.65v being unusable and some games showing lackluster performance it has still proven to be a powerful successor to the Core2 range.
Link to benchies.
Oh and if you don't fancy forking out for an entire new PC they just dropped prices on certain Core2 models to get rid of stocks before Core i7 is launched.

Firmware v2.20 bringing BD-Live to PS3+
Here’s a quick preview of the next PLAYSTATION 3 system software update coming up in the next few days. Firmware v2.20, introduces a number of features to further enhance your PLAYSTATION 3 as the hub of your entertainment center.
Most notably, the update enables the PS3 to support Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0, also known as BD-Live. You can connect now to the Internet while playing discs that support BD-Live to obtain additional content and special features. These features vary from disc to disc, and will keep your BD discs fresh with new content and in some cases exclusive content only accessible to owners of BD-Live enabled discs. On April 8th Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release The 6th Day and Walk Hard on Blu-ray; these titles will be among the first to take advantage of BD-Live. With this update, the PLAYSTATION 3 becomes the first Blu-ray player on the market with BD-Live functionality.

Be afraid Nvidia / ATI / AMD |
07 Feb 2008 - 13:02 - GMT |
over the next 2-3years intel are gonna be targetting being the lead in every Processor related task.
Read THIS
with 8-16+ cores per cpu everyone else should be worried, this will allow so much processing power without the need for gpu's as there is more than enough processing power to do everything a computer could need, let alone pushing the realism of games to the next level. More objects will be able to be utilisied in games, more of everything. Especially with memory controllers in the chips too, no more north bridge. Impressive to say the least
Onboard graphics is looking likely so nvidia should be more scared than anyone else, as ati / amd are already doing this and intel are catching them up fast. Where does this leave nvidia and graphics cards? Only time will tell
Regards.
